This makes me more sad than I can tell you. I mean, I guess the time has come, but still. I won't tear at my hair and weep in the streets...after all, there'll still be e-books. Still, though, this comes as a bit of a shock to me.
This, of course, fits into the larger conversation about the shift in reading habits we as a culture are experiencing (not to mention the conversation about legitimacy of electronic publishing vs. print on paper). I was raised as part of the culture where book reading is as much a tactile as mental experience, though. I still have trouble screen reading. I don't in any way oppose e-books, but I have to say I'm not a big consumer of them, either.
