With Batmania running rampant right now, I thought this'd be a fun post. There were 2 Batman movie serials produced in the forties. Here is the first chapter of the second serial, "Batman and Robin".
Two things strike me every time I watch this: 1) how suburban stately Wayne manor is, and 2) as goofy as the batsuit looks to me from a modern perspective, its actually very similar to how the suit looked in comics of the time (by the time this comes out, Batman had been around for 10 years)--artists couldn't seem to figure out if those were batears or horns, so neither could the costume department...something most productions of Batman have trouble with to this day.
Here's what Batman-on-Film.com has to say about the serial.
